The shelf life of Cordyceps is usually 2 years (dry). If it is only a little bit blackened, that is, black on the outside and white on the inside it is okay, it is edible, but don’t store it anymore without eating it.
In this case you can wipe the cordyceps clean with a clean damp cloth and then dry it in the sun, then put it in a ziplock bag and refrigerate it in the fridge.
If it is completely blackened inside and outside, this is not edible, it has gone bad, do not spare it, health is most important!
Firstly, for fresh Cordyceps without brushing the soil, you need to brush the soil in time after purchase and then seal it in the refrigerator, this can be stored for 3~5 months.
However, it should be remembered that fresh Cordyceps should not be exposed to water and needs to be completely sealed. If Cordyceps is allowed to come into contact with air and water, it will lead to blackening of Cordyceps, which will affect the nutrient content.
Secondly, dried cordyceps should be protected from moisture, mould and insects. If it only needs to be stored for a short period of time, such as a few days or ten days, it only needs to be placed in a cool and dry place. If the storage time is long, such as more than a month, you can put the cordyceps into a clean and intact plastic bag, and then seal the mouth of the bag. Then put a double plastic bag on the outside of the plastic bag containing the Cordyceps and seal it well, and refrigerate it in the fridge.
